Hands-on Session on "Material Science"

Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida, organized a “Hands-on Session on Material Science” under the CoESM (Center of Excellence of smart manufacturing) on 26^th April, 2023. The keynote of the event was Mr. Vishnu Kuntal (Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering). He delivered an expert technical talk on "Material Science & Metal Casting". The event was assisted by Dr. Bishub Choudhury, and Ms. Krati Hardya, and was supervised under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Shailesh Kumar Singh, Head, and department of Mechanical Engineering. The talk was attended by the students of Mechanical Engineering.

The objective of the event was to provide a valuable insight of manufacturing process particularly on Metal Casting. 

Overview of the talk:

• The prime focus of the event was to provide a detailed explanation on metal casting process and its significant role in modern manufacturing fields.
• A detailed hands-on session was conducted where casting of different metallic part was manufactured using green molding technique. Initially, an in-depth explanation on green sand mounding, its tool, and procedure are explained to the students for better comprehending the concept of metal casting.
• The students performed hands on experiment and successfully developed three different casted products.

Overall, it was an excellent opportunity for the students to learn and gain a practical knowledge on manufacturing technology especially on metal casting and its significance to the present manufacturing scenario.
